The Garden Party at Cliveden

Tracey Emin, Brian Dowling, Tina Hobley, Frances Barber, Robert Lindsay, Floella Benjamin, Ricardo from The Salon, Cindy Jackson, Faith Brown and supporters of Terrence Higgins Trust are expected to attend The Garden Party, a summer gala at historic Cliveden in Berkshire on Sunday 11 July, 2.30pm – 7.00pm.

Guests will enjoy a lavish afternoon tea in the marquee or picnic style on the lawn, accompanied by lashings of champagne and fine cocktails prepared with Grey Goose vodka and Funkin cocktail mixers. Cliveden is officially the place to find one of the best cups of tea in Britain, winning the inaugural award for Top Country House Hotel for afternoon tea.*

Amusements on offer for guests include river cruises in Cliveden’s flotilla of vintage launches and horse and carriage rides in a luxurious Victorian Landau carriage drawn by a pair of pure-bred Friesian horses.

Also at the event, celebrity couture hat designer Louis Mariette will be presenting the 1.5 million Chapeau d’amour, the world’s most expensive hat, inspired by the entwined ivy and bluebells in the forests of Cliveden during springtime.

Cliveden is perhaps one of England’s best known stately homes, revered for its fabulous setting and fascinating past. Situated just outside London on magnificent parkland overlooking an idyllic bend in the River Thames, this is a house that for 300 years has been dedicated to the pursuit of passion, pleasure and gracious living.

Since its creation in 1666, Cliveden has been home to three Dukes, an Earl, a Prince of Wales and the irrepressible Nancy Astor, founder of the infamous ‘Cliveden Set’. Cliveden is perhaps most famous as the location of a meeting between Christine Keeler and John Profumo in July 1961 which sparked the Profumo affair.
