Cardiff-Wales LGBT Mardi Gras has officially been given support this year from the highest of places – 10 Downing Street!
The Prime Minister, David Cameron, has personally written to the committee to give full support for Mardi Gras 2013. Mr. Cameron also believes that the move to the world class Millennium Stadium this year is an excellent idea for the LGBT community in Wales:
“No-one should face prejudice because of their sexual orientation… events such as Cardiff Mardi Gras give us the chance to come together to celebrate the diversity of our communities.
I’m sure the move to the Millennium Stadium for this year’s event will make it the biggest and best to date”.
Cardiff-Wales LGBT Mardi Gras greatly welcomes the recent legalisation of same sex marriage and this latest statement from the Prime Minister goes to show how quickly LGBT equality has advanced in recent years – an amazing thing to celebrate with us on August 31st!
Excitement for Cardiff Mardi Gras is in full swing with only a week left until the highly anticipated event, which is being held at Cardiff’s iconic Millennium Stadium for the first time ever.
This year’s line-up includes: Queen of UK Soul – Beverley Knight, Lady GaGa Experience and reality TV star Rylan Clark will act as host of the event.
Adult tickets to the Cardiff-Wales LGBT Mardi Gras are on sale for £8.00 until Saturday 31st August, when they’ll be available for £10 on the gate of Millennium Stadium.
As well as the 10 hours of live music and entertainment inside Millennium Stadium, a record 3000 people are expected to take part in the Mardi Gras Parade through Cardiff City Centre. The planned route will start at Churchill Way at 10:30am and make its way down Queen Street, the Hayes and onto St. Mary’s Street for 11:45.
