The countdown is on to the biggest, brightest and most flamboyant day in the Brighton & Hove calendar: ‘Pride, Out Of This World’…
On 13th August 2011 Preston Park will come alive with up to 50,000 Out Of This World Pride supporters, their families, friends and allies as they enjoy hours of top entertainment, whether your thing is to boogie the day away, enjoy almost non-stop cabaret, more live music than you can shake a glitter microphone at, shop till you drop, or simply chill out, Pride has ensured that you will be catered for on the park.
Over the next few weeks we will announce full details of all the line-ups and major acts performing at this year’s event, plans for the park event are changing everyday as new artists are added to the already amazing line-ups. So, what can we tell you now…
Pride supporters will be pleased to see the main attractions are not only still a major part of the festival but with overcrowding being an issue in 2010 the Main Dance Tent has doubled in capacity to 8,000 and has a line up to suit; new not-for-profit hosts Last Night A DJ Saved My Life are proud to announce that superstar DJ Danny Rampling will be joined on the decks by Guy Williams, Paul Heron, Lee Harris, Seamus Haji, Hi Fi Sean, Dulcie Danger and DJ Mikalis.
If dance music is not your thing then head over to the Cabaret Tent where you’ll find the fabulous Lady James hosting a stellar line up including Miss Jason, Dave Lynn, Drag With No Name, Rose Garden, Kitty Litter, Eva La Diva, Sandra, Davina Sparkle and Maisie Trollette. This virtual non-stop parade of wigs lacquered to within an inch of their lives, faux-haut couture and mascaraed talent is all for your delight.
For the first time in almost ten years there will be a live stage, the line up for this is strictly under wraps (until the ink is dry on the contracts anyway!) but you can be sure of a full day of the coolest and campest acts around. Watch out for further announcements very soon.
After the success of last year the Bears Tent is back and is even bigger and better than ever with top Brighton DJs playing classic and funky disco tinged sounds including DJs Phil Lovedisco, Tony B, Tony Dunne, Mr King, Josh The Barber, Missy, Richard Jones and Steve Lush.
A firm favourite every year is the Women’s Performance Tent which this year two new hosts and a brand new look. Zhoosh, Brighton’s LGBTQ network online have joined forces with The GO.GO Festival, Europe’s biggest open air Women’s Festival which has been heralded as ‘The Glastonbury of the lez scene’ and recommended by Time Out Magazine. With a stellar line up of DJs and live acts Zhoosh and the GO.GO Festival are a fantastic collaboration to add to our Pride celebrations and they are sure to give all you ladies out there a day to remember. Full line up will be announced soon.
This year’s BME Tent is hosted by MC Brandy, one of the freshest and fiercest female talents in the UK club and music industry. Having been a professional MC since 2002, Brandy has worked with some of the worlds finest DJs and musicians, spanning a wide range of music styles and genres. Famous for her own distinctive freestyle flow MC Brandy has performed in some of the biggest clubs in the UK and is bringing her talent and an amazing line up to this popular tent. Tickets for the main event have been on sale since April. Russell Allen, Pride Chair says ‘Although it is difficult to comment on ticket sales expectations when this is the first ever year and as such we have no baseline we have been pleased with the online sales to date and are working with a number of partners to provide other opportunities for ticket purchases. After speaking to other events around the country our ticket sales are exactly where we expect them to be and for that reason, as well as the fact that the event will be spectacular, we are confident that once we announce the full programming for the day tickets will sour ‘Out of This World’ and the event will be a sell out.
He added; Our message to Pride supporters is to avoid what could be a long wait on the day, and take advantage of the advanced purchase discount and buy your ticket now.’
