Now in it’s third year, Northern Pride – the northeast’s biggest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community festival has announced that it is returning in 2010. Organisers have revelled that they expect over 10,000 people to attend this year’s event.
Saturday 17th July 2010 is the date for your diary and beautiful Leazes Park will be the perfect setting for the annual event. Building on the success of Northern Pride 2009, which saw over 6,000 revellers brave the torrential rain, this year will be an even bigger and better affair.
Kicking off with a parade through Newcastle upon Tyne and then onto the scenic Leazes Park for a good old knees up. The organisers have been hard at work to ensure that there’s something for everyone with music and entertainment over several stages, stalls, kids entertainment, sports and plenty to eat and drink.
New plans this year include a third stage, to bring a more acoustic and chilled flavour, more stalls from organisations across the UK, and of course an even bigger and more diverse crowd.
“I’m so excited about 2010, we’ve already been talking to loads of artists but you’ll have to wait just a little longer to find out who’ll be on that main stage!
“Organising an event of this size and nature takes an awful lot of time and planning – everyone involved is a volunteer. We really want the communities to get involved so let us know what you’d like to see and do.” James Anderson, Community Involvement Director commented.
