HERO calls for the LGBT community to get involved for Sports Day 2018

Register a team and raise money for HERO (the home of GMFA and OutLife), Vauxhall City Farm and Friends of Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens

The Royal Vauxhall Tavern in partnership with HERO (the Health Equality and Rights Organisation) – the home of GMFA (the gay men’s health project) and OutLife (the health and advice site for LGBTQ+ people) – is back on Bank Holiday Monday August 27th with its annual Sports Day.

This year, Sports Day is bigger than ever and we want more teams than ever to participate and help raise money for vital causes, including HERO, Vauxhall City Farm and Friends of Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens.

Whatever your sporting prowess, gender identity or sexuality, enjoy a fantastic day out and help raise money for some brilliant causes.

To take part in Sports Day 2018 you need:

•          5 people
•          A team name
•          To pledge to raise £500

To submit your team, just email us at sportsday@lgbthero.org.uk and we will help you set up a fundraising page.

You can come in fancy dress, be sporty or wear whatever you wish. Just make sure you come to have fun!

Money raised through team online sponsorship, auction, raffle and bucket collections go towards supporting the work of HERO, including:

• GMFA and its HIV prevention campaigns, sexual health information and work fighting HIV stigma (www.gmfa.org.uk)

• OutLife and its work raising mental health awareness and providing health information for LGBTQ+ people (www.outlife.org.uk)

As well as Vauxhall City Farm and Friends of Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens.

This year will be hosted by the brilliant drag queen Timberlina, with commentary by Bob Ballard and Tim Heath.
