GMFA calls for the community to get involved for Gay Sports Day 2017

Register a team and raise money for GMFA, Vauxhall City Farm and Friends of Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens

GMFA and the Royal Vauxhall Tavern’s annual Gay Sports Day is back on Bank Holiday Monday August 28th. It’s bigger, bolder and better than ever and we still have spaces for people to register a team. We have new events this year and it promises to be a great day out, whatever your sporting prowess.

The events include:

  • Handbag Throw – like the discus…but with handbags
  • 50m Sissy That Walk – work that runway (running track)
  • Love egg & spoon race – an egg and spoon race with a twist
  • Bondage relay – a kinky take on the three-legged race
  • Drag race relay – Let’s play dress up
  • Balloon pop challenge – can you thrust hard enough to burst that balloon?
  • Sack race
  • Spill the tea – whoever retains the most liquid wins
  • Tug of War
  • Rhythmic gymnastics

To take part in Gay Sports Day 2017 you need:

  • 5 people
  • A team name
  • To pledge to raise £500

To submit your team, contact Michael Flaherty at, and we will help you set up your fundraising page.

You can come in fancy dress, be sporty or wear whatever you wish. Just make sure you come to have fun!

Money raised through team online sponsorship, auction, raffle and bucket collections go towards supporting the work of GMFA’s GMFA25 appeal ( and local charities, including Vauxhall City Farm and Friends of Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens.
