The Gay Classic Car Group (GCCG) celebrated its 25th anniversary with 230 members gathering near to Swindon for a weekend of events. Demonstrating its close ties with sister clubs in Europe and the USA, 70 of the attendees were from overseas. Several life-long friends of the club travelled over from California to help with the celebrations.
The variety of cars was beyond belief. The furthest travelled car came all the way over from Gran Canaria. A couple from Sitges, bought and used an elegant Citroen DS convertible for the weekend. Cars ranged from the exotic Ferraris and Rolls Royces through to an original and presentable diesel Citroen Visa and a very low mileage clove brown Metro 1.3HLE. Many members brought two cars to the event.
Despite the extended winter, the weather held up well for the weekend which gave an ideal photo opportunity of the 150 cars in attendance outside of Longleat House. Many took the opportunity to drive their classics around the safari park, to the bemusement of some animals.
