Out in the City, a support group for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people over the age of 50, has teamed up with Age Concern to create Tales from Out in the City – a new book that will be launched as part of this year’s Manchester Pride celebrations.
The book highlights the lives of Out in the City members and their experiences, backgrounds and lifestyles within Manchester’s LGBT community.
The group will provide readings from the book and invite others to come and share their own stories at a special event at Taurus Bar on Canal Street at 4pm on Thursday 27th August.
Sue Nzilani from Out in the City, said: “The members of Out in the City, are delighted to have the opportunity to participate in Manchester Pride 2009 so that we can to come together and celebrate our diversity.”
“This pre-Pride event at Taurus is to launch our book ‘Tales from Out in the City’, a book of memories covering several decades, which we felt compelled to write in order to capture, preserve and pass on to future generations.”
